They're also fairly inaccurate, especially if you're not aiming manually. Regarding why miniguns seem like a powerful weapon but don't immediately mow down everyone in front of it: Miniguns do a lot of low damage really fast. It is a tough enemy, so use what you can to your advantage. Utilizing the buildings is not cheating, however. Regarding the Deathclaw in Concord: You can kill it in the streets, it's just using your VATS targeting system (you can also shoot the cars, since intact ones explode like a tiny nuke). Rad-X will decrease the amount of Rads that you take from radiation sources, and Rad-Away will remove it. In regards to the red section that appears on your health bar: That is how much Radiation you've absorbed from eating uncooked food, drinking non-purified water, or otherwise being exposed to radioactive hotspots (look for yellow and white striped barrels and try to stay out of most water) along with radstorms (the green thunderstorms). Challenge in video games is a good thing, so have patience. Don't worry, eventually you'll be so overpowered that you can just stroll around and one-two shot enemies. This will give you experience and gear you need in order to survive the higher difficulty areas. I advise instead of running and doing quests in Diamond City, you should focus on staying north of the river and exploring the northern part of the Commonwealth, as well as doing quests there and only go south around level 15-20. The farther south you go, the harder the enemies get. The only solution is to just quest more, find better weapons and get experience. Early in the game, you will also have terrible weapons that don't do good damage. Regarding getting frustrated with the combat in the early game: The game's combat is based on experience and placing experience points into certain skills in order to get higher damage. Leave the Exitsave, and only delete these extra save files before you quit back to the main menu. Always remember that when you're done with your session, delete the autosaves that occur when you load into a new area, or just general autosaves. Always manually save every fifteen minutes and in at least two different slots. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. You can also try waiting or sleeping for several days to a week of in-game time to see what happens. In regards to getting stuck, or making city NPCs mad at you: You're gonna have to revert to a different save that takes you back, or utilize console commands to reset things if you're playing on PC. I hope they help you, and if these do not cover a question you have, please do not hesitate to ask. Since you're new to the game.I'm gonna post my big list of tips for you. Focus on using the junk you have to improve your guns and armor first. But you should only focus on building up settlements until around mid-game, or levels 15-20. Just gather all the junk items, dump them into a workbench and the game will auto-scrap those items while you're building stuff. This is a helpful way to keep things organized for when you just want to store or try out a gun you picked up and don't want to flip through workbench menus.īut don't worry too much about building settlements if you first started. So Legendary guns go in to the one under the weapons workbench, Legendary armor goes into the one under the armor workbench, etc. I always put a container under each workbench to store special Legendary gear in that you cannot scrap. When it comes to keeping track of items, I always use fiberglass containers. Leave Sanctuary for the Companions you'll pick up and NPC settlers. Personally I suggest moving to Red Rocket across the river from Sanctuary, since it has all the basic crafting stations and is a much smaller, more confined area so you don't end up losing track of where you put something. And you can also just live there with your robots and dog. Containers within settlement sites (like Sanctuary) are safe for storing your equipment.
